Bengaluru: Tense moments unfolded in Hulimavu Sunday after a 35-year-old woman climbed onto the overhead water tank atop a four-storey building with her four-year-old son and threatened to jump, allegedly over multiple grievances. A massive rescue operation was launched before police brought both down to safety. The incident occurred around noon at Doddakammanahalli under Hulimavu police limits. Cops said the woman, a Kerala native living in a rented penthouse on the third floor, climbed onto the water tank and declared she would end her life unless the chief minister came to the spot and addressed her complaints. The threat triggered panic among residents, who alerted police. Fire service and civil defence personnel were also mobilised for the rescue.Hulimavu police inspector Jagadish R reached the building around 1.30pm and, after prolonged counselling and negotiations, persuaded the woman to come down.During negotiations, the woman alleged that a senior retired bureaucrat had cheated her. She said she had filed a complaint at Tilaknagar police station besides pursuing other cases in court. Claiming she was denied justice, she insisted that the CM should intervene. She also alleged that a friend had damaged her mobile phone a few months ago and that police had failed to act on her complaint. After the rescue, police took her to the station, counselled her, and accepted a fresh complaint regarding the alleged damage to her phone.
