Varanasi: The mutilated body of an unidentified woman, believed to be around 25 years old, was found wrapped in a black plastic sheet and dumped in bushes along the national highway near the Ranipur tri-junction under the Madiyahu police station limits on Sunday morning.Police suspect the woman was brutally murdered and are awaiting the postmortem report to determine the cause of death and whether she was sexually assaulted before being killed.Circle officer (Madiyahu) Parmanand Kushwaha said the body was wrapped in a black plastic sheet. Her legs had been severed, and injury marks were found on her hands. Police also recovered her clothes packed inside the same plastic sheet.Officials said the postmortem report would determine the cause of death and whether the woman had been raped before the murder. Efforts are also underway to establish her identity.The body was spotted by passers-by, who noticed a suspicious plastic bundle lying in the bushes. On opening it, they found the woman’s body and immediately alerted the police.The area was cordoned off, and a forensic team was called to collect evidence before the body was sent for a postmortem examination. Police questioned local residents and scanned CCTV footage from nearby areas as part of the investigation.
