Weather tomorrow: IMD warns of extremely heavy rain in several states; heavy showers likely across north, west and east India
The IMD has forecast active monsoon conditions to persist over much of the country during the next three to four days.

NEW DELHI: Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected to continue across large parts of the country on Monday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting an active southwest monsoon over western, central and northern India.Several states are also likely to witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, while heavy rain is expected to spread across parts of the Himalayan region.

IMD alert for Monday

Extremely heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Gujarat, Konkan, Goa and central Maharashtra.Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also forecast over coastal Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Saurashtra, Kutch, south interior Karnataka and east Rajasthan.Heavy rainfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, north interior Karnataka, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Vidarbha, West Bengal and west Rajasthan.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected across parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Andhra Pradesh and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Delhi-NCR weather tomorrow

Delhi is likely to witness rain accompanied by thunderstorms, with heavy rainfall expected at isolated places. Similar weather conditions are likely over Haryana and Punjab as monsoon activity strengthens across northwest India.

West India forecast

Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected to continue over Gujarat, Konkan, Goa and central Maharashtra, while heavy to very heavy rain is likely over Saurashtra and Kutch.The IMD has advised that intense rainfall over these regions could lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas and localised flooding.

Central India forecast

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Madhya Pradesh, while Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha are expected to receive heavy rain. Thunderstorms are also forecast over parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

East and northeast India forecast

Odisha is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, while heavy rain is also forecast over Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also likely across parts of eastern and northeastern India.

South India forecast

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over Kerala, coastal Karnataka and south interior Karnataka. Heavy rain is also likely over north interior Karnataka, while thunderstorms are forecast over Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and parts of Karnataka.

Monsoon update

The southwest monsoon continues to advance gradually across the country. According to the IMD, conditions are favourable for its further advance into more parts of the north Arabian Sea, Gujarat, the remaining parts of Haryana and Punjab, and additional parts of Rajasthan over the next four days.
