PUNE: Data recovered successfully from all three cellphones seized from Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary, accused of murdering realtor Ketan Agrawal in Lohagad, police are now corroborating the digital evidence with the statements of witnesses to collect more circumstantial evidence.Officers believe the recovered data may provide crucial leads related to the alleged murder conspiracy. A senior police officer said, “We are conducting a detailed analysis of chats, call records, location history and other digital evidence recovered from the cellphones of the accused. Based on this information, we are verifying their movements, interactions with each other and their alleged involvement in the conspiracy to murder Ketan. Every piece of digital evidence is being cross-verified with statements of witnesses to strengthen the investigation.”Siya (20) and Chetan (22), allegedly killed real estate businessman Ketan (25), in Lohagad on June 18. They were remanded in judicial custody on Friday.The police have recorded the statement of the classmate of the accused, who told investigators that he had advised Chetan and Siya not to kill Ketan. The police are also trying to ascertain if anyone else had prior knowledge of the alleged conspiracy. Superintendent of police, Pune, Sandeep Singh Gill, said, “The two had planned the murder carefully and worked hard on how not to get arrested.”The police are trying to probe what Siya and Chetan did between June 18, the day Ketan died, and June 23 — the day the murder aspect came to the fore. Initially, the police had treated it as an accidental death.The police are also working to decipher chats exchanged between Chetan and Siya in code language. The police have begun recording statements of some of their friends, who are expected to provide important information on this aspect.
