Panchkula: SDM-cum-electoral registration officer (ERO) Chandrakant Kataria has recommended disciplinary action against officials for alleged negligence in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and digitisation of electoral rolls.Kataria has written to the district election officer seeking show-cause notices for six supervisors and 50 booth level officers (BLOs), besides recommending the suspension of 10 BLOs for lapses in revision work.He said special voter assistance camps would be organised at 12 locations across Panchkula on July 4 and 5 to help voters fill enumeration forms under the SIR exercise. The camps will be set up in Bhid Ghaggar, Rajiv Colony, Khadak Mangoli, Majri, Ashiana Sector 20, Ashiana Sector 26, Ashiana Sector 28 and other areas. The ERO directed officials associated with the revision drive to work with diligence and speed to ensure preparation of an error-free electoral roll within the stipulated timeframe.Appealing to residents to visit the camps and cooperate with BLOs, supervisors and booth level agents (BLAs), Kataria said the exercise would identify and remove names of deceased voters, those who have shifted permanently and duplicate entries in accordance with election rules. Polling stations in the Panchkula assembly constituency will be rationalised after the revision process is completed.
