Chennai: Two women sub-inspectors attached to the Thirumullaivoyal police station were caught accepting a ₹20,000 as bribe from a woman seeking licence to operate a spa and a massage parlour in their jurisdiction in Avadi police commissionerate.Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption said the complainant had approached the police station recently to obtain the mandatory police licence when sub-inspectors Amul and Bhagyalakshmi demanded the bribe to process the application.Following this, the person lodged a complaint with the Tiruvallur unit of DVAC, who registered a case and set a trap. The complainant was provided with currency notes laced with chemicals and instructed to hand them over to the two sub-inspectors at the police station.On Wednesday, the DVAC team entered the station premises and caught sub-inspector Amul red-handed as she received the bribe and arrested her and Bhagyalakshmi on corruption charges. Both were produced before a magistrate court in the city and remanded in judicial custody.
