Cylinder blast sparks fire at Greater Noida labour camp, none injured
Around 10.50pm on Wednesday, the fire department’s control room was informed that several shanties in Kacheda village had caught fire

Noida: A fire broke out at a labour camp of a private construction company in Badalpur, Greater Noida, late on Wednesday after an LPG cylinder exploded. The labourers staying in the camps rushed out in time and there were no injuries. The fire department brought the blaze under control within 45 minutes.Around 10.50pm on Wednesday, the fire department’s control room got a call that several shanties in Kacheda village had caught fire. Firefighters found flames engulfing the camp. Because of the intensity of the blaze, six fire tenders from nearby fire stations, including Ghaziabad, were rushed to the site, said chief fire officer Pradeep Kumar Chaubey.An initial investigation suggests that the fire might have been triggered by a leak in a small LPG cylinder that was being used by the labourers. The situation worsened as several other cylinders stored in nearby units exploded one after another.The explosions could be heard from a distance, prompting a large number of locals to gather outside the camp. The authorities also ensured that the surrounding area was secured to prevent the fire from spreading further.Several videos of the incident have since been circulated widely on social media. One of those videos shows towering flames and repeated explosions caused by LPG cylinders. Fire officials said the blaze was extinguished and cooling operations were carried out to eliminate the possibility of reignition.The cause of the fire will be confirmed after an investigation. Fire department officials have also stressed the need for proper storage and handling of LPG cylinders.
