Bengaluru: A woman sub-inspector from JP Nagar police station fired at a murder accused in self-defence when the latter attacked police personnel in Talaghattapura Wednesday afternoon.SI Savinaya fired on the left knee of Santosh Kumar, accused of leading the gang that hacked rowdy Rajubhai, alias Raju, on JP Nagar main road last week. Santosh has been shifted to hospital and is recuperating.Police had earlier arrested Santosh and his three accomplices for the murder. “They had hidden the machete and other weapons used in the crime in bushes. The police team took Santosh to the spot to recover them. On reaching there, Santosh took a stone and attacked the personnel. Savinaya fired two rounds in the air to warn the rowdy. However, he continued to attack, forcing police to open fire,” a senior officer said.
