Ravi Kishan appointed as Professor of Practice at DDUGU

Gorakhpur: The executive council of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University (DDUGU) on Wednesday appointed Lok Sabha member Ravi Kishan as a Professor of Practice in the Department of Fine Arts and Music.Along with Ravi Kishan, two other distinguished personalities — industrialists Chandraprakash Agarwal and Atul Sarraf — were appointed as Professors of Practice.A Professor of Practice is an academic appointment offered to distinguished industry professionals, business leaders and experts. Unlike traditional professors who primarily focus on academic research and theory, these individuals are appointed to help students acquire practical skills and gain exposure to real-world applications in their respective fields.Ravi Kishan represents the Gorakhpur constituency in the Lok Sabha and is recognised for his contributions to public life and social initiatives in the region.The other two appointees, Chandraprakash Agarwal and Atul Sarraf, are also noted personalities. Agarwal is a well-known entrepreneur and industrialist from Gorakhpur, while Sarraf is a leading businessman from the region.Vice-chancellor Prof. Tandon said the appointments and promotions would strengthen the university’s academic and research ecosystem while providing students with greater exposure to industry- and society-oriented learning.The executive council also nominated Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan recipient V. K. Saraswat as the chief guest for the university’s 2025–26 convocation ceremony, scheduled for Aug 6.
