Three arrested for robbing jewellery shop employee
Three youths were arrested for luring a 23-year-old jewellery shop employee through the Grindr app, threatening him and robbing him of his mobile phone and cash in T. Nagar. Police recovered the complainant’s mobile phone and seized another phone used in the crime.

Chennai: Three youths were arrested for luring a 23-year-old jewellery shop employee through an online dating app, threatening him and robbing him of his mobile phone and cash in T Nagar. Police said the complainant, Kendarnath, 23, a native of Karnataka, worked at a gold jewellery shop in T Nagar. On June 28, he responded to an invitation received through the App and went to a location near the Kannammapettai burial ground on New Boag Road.According to police, three men confronted Kendarnath, threatened him and demanded money. When he told them he did not have cash, they forced him to transfer cash through an online money portal, snatched his high-end mobile phone and fled.Based on Kendarnath’s complaint, the crime wing of the Mambalam police registered a case and arrested the three culprits on Tuesday. The arrested were identified as Sivakumar, 19, of Gandhipuram, Kannammapettai ; Gokul, 19, of South West Boag Road, T. Nagar ; and Kamal, 19, of Gandhipuram, Kannammapettai.Police recovered the complainant’s stolen mobile phone and seized another mobile phone used by the suspects during the offence. Investigation revealed that all three accused worked at mobile phone service shops in and around T Nagar. Sivakumar has four criminal cases, including three narcotics-related cases, against him.
