Woman on way home hit on head, robbed of chain and phone; 4 teens held
Efforts are on to recover the stolen chain and locket, and investigators are examining whether the accused were involved in any other criminal cases

Gurgaon: A woman returning home from work was struck on the head from behind and robbed of her gold chain, locket and phone on an elevated pathway in Sector 15 Part 2 on June 26.Police said four teenagers, including a juvenile, carried out the attack after spotting her walking alone and following her on a scooter. All four have since been apprehended and the victim’s phone recovered. Police were yet to confirm the weapon used in the crime. A passerby noticed the woman lying on the road and took her to a hospital.According to police, the incident occurred around 12.15am. The woman had just finished her shift as a helper at a private company. While three of the accused knocked her to the ground, the fourth accompanied them during the crime.Based on the woman’s complaint, Civil Lines police registered a case on June 27 under Section 309(6) (causing hurt during robbery) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.“The investigation was subsequently taken up by the Crime Branch, Sector 17. Acting on the leads, police arrested three accused and apprehended a juvenile near the auto stand at Police Lines on June 30,” said Sandeep Turan, police spokesperson.The three adults were identified as Ajit, a native of Mainpuri, Veerpal alias Satish, from Jalaun and Saurabh, from Agra of UP — all 18 years old and residents of Rajiv Nagar.Ajit works in car detailing, Veerpal as a waiter, and Saurabh in housekeeping. Police said that Saurabh had borrowed a scooter from the owner of the paying guest accommodation where he lived. The four then rode around the city looking for a target before spotting the woman and attacking her.Efforts are on to recover the stolen chain and locket, and investigators are examining whether the accused were involved in any other criminal cases. The three adults will be produced before a court, with police seeking their remand for further interrogation and recovery of the remaining property. The juvenile will be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, Turan said.
