Pune:A PMPML bus crashed into a wedding card shop on Bajirao Road, near Appa Balwant Chowk, around 3.45pm on Tuesday, damaging its glass door and furniture but no one was injured.“Thankfully, no one was standing at the door of the card shop. There were about 15 passengers in the bus, but none of them suffered injuries,” inspector Arun Ghodke of Vishrambaug police said. The bus was heading towards Pune railway station from Wadgaon Budruk. The Vishrambaug police registered a case against the PMPML bus driver after the shopkeeper, Vinod Patange, recorded his statement in the evening.Inspector Ghodke said, “We checked the bus. It did not have any technical or mechanical issues. We later asked the PMPML bus driver how the accident occurred. He told us that he was distracted for a few seconds when his bus was trailing a tanker.”The bus went very close to the tanker because of the distraction. “When the bus driver spotted the tanker, he moved the steering to the right to avert a collision. The driver lost control over the wheel and the bus crashed into the door of the wedding card shop. Two two-wheelers parked near the shop were damaged,” he said. The accident caused a traffic jam on Bajirao Road for almost 15 minutes.
