MUMBAI: Messages on social media about a promotional offer by a clothing retail outlet at Infiniti Mall in Malad West triggered a massive crowd at the mall premises on Saturday. Police had to intervene and announce that there was no such offer, after which the crowd dispersed. No untoward incident was reported. Sources said messages went viral on social media claiming that a clothing retail outlet at the mall was selling outfits for Rs 1. Hordes of shoppers gathered at the mall since morning and waited for the outlet to open so they could avail of the offer. Fearing a stampede, police were called in. Announcements were made clarifying that there was no such discount offer, and people were asked to disperse calmly. Nobody was injured, police confirmed.
