Mohali: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) solidified its control over the urban local bodies of Mohali district on Friday by securing the top three leadership positions at the Lalru municipal council. This victory marks the third major civic body in the district to come under AAP governance, following the party’s previous success in establishing majorities within both the Mohali municipal corporation and the Zirakpur municipal council.In the internal council vote following recent local elections, Jorawar Singh from Ward Number 6 was unanimously chosen as the president of the Lalru municipal council. Harish Madan from Ward Number 8 secured the position of senior vice-president, while Aman Rana from Ward Number 4 was appointed vice-president.The elections were completed in the presence of all winning ward representatives and prominent regional political leaders. Dera Bassi MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa congratulated the newly appointed office-bearers and expressed his gratitude to the residents of Lalru for electing AAP candidates to 13 out of the total 17 seats available in the municipal house.Randhawa stated that the newly formed council carries an immediate responsibility to accelerate urban growth and enhance local public infrastructure. He instructed the house to focus immediately on upgrading core civic amenities, specifically listing municipal sanitation systems, clean drinking water supply, road carpeting networks, and underground sewerage layouts.
