Jaipur: Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Friday reviewed preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed July 4 visit to Rajasthan, during which he is expected to inaugurate the Pachpadra refinery and the new terminal building at Jodhpur Airport.Chairing a high-level review meeting, Sharma directed officials to complete all preparations on time and ensure seamless coordination among depts. He also instructed authorities to ensure high-quality public facilities at the venue, including adequate parking, drinking water and seating arrangements.Sharma stressed that people gathering at locations where the PM’s address would be telecast live should be provided with essential amenities such as shade, drinking water and medical services. He further instructed officials to complete all technical preparations in advance for seamless video conferencing across gram panchayats, municipalities and district headquarters connected to the event.The CM said the inauguration of the state’s biggest project and India’s first greenfield integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex would be a matter of pride for Rajasthan.Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said Modi will also witness the signing of the Rajasthan-Haryana memorandum of agreement on the Yamuna water pact. He added that technical formalities for the new Jodhpur airport terminal are in the final stages.Built over 37 acres at a cost of Rs 400 crore, the terminal is six times larger than the existing facility and features six aerobridges, modern amenities and enhanced security. Calling it a decades-old aspiration, Shekhawat said the terminal would boost connectivity, investment and tourism in western Rajasthan.Commercial flight operations are expected to shift to the new terminal by the end of the year, while the existing building may be repurposed. Jodhpur Airport currently operates around 10 flights connecting six cities — Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Pune and Hyderabad. The Ahmedabad service is also set to be extended to Noida from July 1.
