Pune: A 30-year-old land dealer was arrested on Monday on the charge of opening fire in the air from his licenced pistol to disperse the crowd gathered near a relative’s house in Bhoirwadi, Maan, near Hinjewadi late on Sunday night.The Hinjewadi police have seized the firearm from the accused.Assistant police inspector DR Sali of the Hinjewadi police said Urs was being observed in Maan on Sunday. During the programme, the accused man’s relative had heated arguments with a local resident. “A police patil intervened and pacified them. The man then claimed the police patil had abused him and started to argue with him,” he said.Sali said the man in question stayed on rent in Bhoirwadi. Local residents gathered around his house and two groups began to quarrel with each other. “The accused fired three rounds in the air from his country-made pistol to disperse the crowd. No one was injured,” he said.The officer said the accused had obtained a firearm licence four years ago. “We have seized the firearm,” he added.
