‘Expedite projects to dispose of waste before monsoon’
With the rainy season fast approaching, MC chief Ojasvi Alankar ordered officials to clear any hurdles affecting the main dump yard before the monsoons hit.

Ludhiana: Municipal commissioner Ojasvi Alankar inspected the civic body’s main garbage dump site on Tajpur Road to review ongoing solid waste management projects. During the visit, the commissioner evaluated current strategies to clear around 20 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of accumulated legacy waste alongside managing the fresh garbage generated across the city every day. With the rainy season fast approaching, Alankar ordered officials to clear any hurdles affecting the main dump yard before the monsoons hit. He issued strict instructions to field teams to properly maintain and stabilise the facility’s main approach road so that waste-carrying trucks can enter without slipping or getting stuck during heavy downpours.Officials stated that the corporation is currently working on a broader, comprehensive solid waste management plan for the entire city. Aside from clearing the main dump site, they are launching multi-layered cleaning drives across urban blocks. Senior leadership teams are monitoring these field operations on a regular basis while collecting feedback from neighbourhood residents. To prevent systemic clogging of urban drains, the civic authorities closed their review by appealing to residents to support the ongoing cleanliness drives by not dumping domestic waste out in the open.
