Govt appoints district in-charge ministers for disaster management

Bengaluru: The govt Thursday appointed deputy chief minister G Parameshwara and the other 12 ministers of DK Shivakumar’s cabinet as district in-charge ministers to oversee disaster management and coordinate relief operations during the ongoing monsoon season.With 20 cabinet berths still vacant, the govt has temporarily entrusted the ministers with disaster management responsibilities until full-time district in-charge ministers are appointed.Parameshwara has been assigned responsibility for Tumakuru and Chitradurga districts, while minister Krishna Byre Gowda will oversee Bengaluru Urban and Hassan districts. The appointments will take immediate effect and remain in force until further notice.The move is aimed at strengthening coordination between the state govt and district administrations in handling rain-related emergencies, monitoring preparedness, and ensuring swift relief and rehabilitation measures.KH Muniyappa has been entrusted with Bengaluru Rural, Ballari and Vijayanagara districts; Ramalinga Reddy with Bengaluru South and Mandya; MB Patil with Vijayapura and Bagalkot; and KJ George with Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru and Davanagere.Eshwar Khandre will supervise Bidar and Gadag districts, Satish Jarkiholi will oversee Belagavi, Dharwad and Haveri, Priyank Kharge has been assigned Kalaburagi and Yadgir, while Sharanaprakash Rudrappa Patil will monitor Raichur and Koppal districts.UT Khader has been assigned Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada and Kodagu districts, while Byrathi Suresh will oversee Kolar and Chikkaballapur. Yathindra Siddaramaiah has been entrusted with Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts.
