Hyderabad: The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH), in collaboration with Crimson Energy Experts (CEEPL), has launched the Nuclear Technology Orientation Programme (NTOP), a three-month residential course aimed at training professionals for nuclear energy-related research and work. The programme, scheduled to begin on August 3, at the IITH campus, seeks to equip engineers and industry professionals with a comprehensive understanding of nuclear power technologies, operations, safety and regulatory frameworks. It comes at a time when India is accelerating its clean energy transition and expanding nuclear power generation capacity, creating a growing demand for trained personnel.NTOP is targeted at early and mid-career engineers, managers from EPC firms, manufacturing professionals, consultants, power sector personnel and public sector executives involved in energy and infrastructure development. The curriculum includes reactor physics, reactor engineering, radiation shielding, nuclear safety, waste management, instrumentation and control systems, thermal hydraulics, quality assurance, emergency preparedness and advanced nuclear technologies, including Small Modular Reactors (SMRs).A key feature of the programme is the participation of IITH faculty alongside experienced scientists and engineers from organisations within the Department of Atomic Energy ecosystem, including the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL), Nuclear Fuel Complex (NFC) and BHAVINI.Participants who complete the course will receive a joint certificate from IITH and CEEPL. The initiative is also expected to facilitate networking and collaboration among professionals, researchers, industry experts and policymakers in India’s nuclear energy sector.
