Reel stunt at Shyamal crossroads lands Ahmedabad teen in legal trouble

Ahmedabad: A social media promotional stunt filmed in the middle of one of Ahmedabad’s busiest intersections has landed a 19-year-old in legal trouble after the video went viral online, prompting traffic police to register a case for endangering public safety.The video showed a young man sitting on a chair in front of vehicles halted at a traffic signal at Shyamal Crossroads while promoting passes for a Navratri event. Although no accident occurred, police said the act posed a risk to the individual and to motorists using the junction.According to N-Division Traffic Police, a detailed probe revealed that the video was shot at Shyamal Crossroads on June 21. It was later circulated as a promotional reel on 360 Events’ social media platform. Police traced the person seen in the video to a 19-year-old from Anandnagar in the city.During questioning, the teen told police that the video was created as part of a promotional campaign for an event and intended to attract attention on social media. Based on the findings, N-Division Traffic Police registered an offence against him for obstructing traffic under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).N-Division traffic police said the incident reflects a growing trend in which content creators and promoters are increasingly engaging in risky public stunts to gain online visibility. Officers said that the signal was red and traffic was stationary at the time, preventing an accident. The act disrupted traffic norms and created a potentially hazardous situation at a busy junction.The reel was later removed from the social media page after it attracted widespread criticism.
