Hyderabad: Telangana IT and industries minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu on Monday met Union commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal and submitted a memorandum seeking approvals for major manufacturing, logistics, design, defence and export infrastructure projects.He sought the Centre’s support for sanctioning an aero-defence corridor for Telangana, setting up a logistics hub in Zaheerabad, as well as approval for a ₹2,050-crore Multi-Modal Logistics Park at Manoharabad in Medak district, being developed with the National Highways Logistics Management Limited.Under the ‘Mega Leather, Footwear and Accessories Cluster Development Scheme’, Sridhar Babu asked for two mega leather parks to be allotted to Telangana.The minister informed Goyal that Hyundai Group has proposed a global innovation and research and development centre at the Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City with an investment of ₹8,500 crore and sought central assistance to develop a logistics hub in Zaheerabad. He said improved connectivity and supply-chain facilities would support the proposed investment and allied industries.He also urged the Centre to extend special support for Telangana’s industrial expansion and to accord priority to the state under the Bhavya Scheme Phase 1, stating the proposals were aligned with Telangana Rising Vision 2047 and the Centre’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.He said the state govt is preparing detailed project reports for 15 to 20 plug-and-play industrial parks under the first phase of the Bhavya Scheme and requested that Telangana’s applications be considered on priority during the June-July 2026 window, as timely approvals would strengthen the state’s manufacturing base and attract new investments.He also said Hyderabad is prepared to host a National Design Centre and requested the Centre’s initiative and financial support for the project.The memorandum requested funding under the Trade Infrastructure for Exports Scheme for an irradiation facility at Koheda in Rangareddy district. Sridhar Babu said the facility would support agri exports and enhance product quality.Raising farm and fertiliser concerns, he urged restoration of crude palm oil import duty to 44% to protect palm oil growers. He also sought special attention to Ramagundam Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited and requested allocation of its entire urea output to Telangana after last year’s supply disruptions.
