Hyderabad: Former minister T Harish Rao alleged that the Congress govt has failed to release ₹29,350 crore under Rythu Bharosa and has systematically diluted its promises to the farming community.“Revanth Reddy is not a leader but a betrayer of farmers,” Harish Rao said, accusing the govt of turning the crop bonus into a “bogus promise” and abandoning procurement responsibilities by declaring that crop purchases would be limited to quantities procured by the Centre.Speaking at the BRS workers’ meeting held in Achampet assembly constituency on Monday, He accused the state govt of betraying farmers, neglecting welfare, and imposing an unbearable burden on the people through taxes and price hikes. He said the govt’s position would severely impact farmers cultivating maize, sorghum, soybean, groundnut and sunflower crops. He warned that farmers could face serious hardships during the upcoming Kharif season if the govt continues with its present procurement policy.Harish Rao criticized the govt for failing to honour its commitments to farmers while simultaneously spending lavishly on non-essential projects.“The government claims there is no money for welfare schemes, but it has funds to construct a ₹100-crore guest house, spend ₹17 crore on fencing, organise football events, and publish advertisements worth hundreds of crores in other states,” he said. The party deputy leader accused the Congress govt of neglecting students by failing to release fee reimbursement dues.Drawing a historical comparison, Harish Rao remarked that just as Aurangzeb imposed taxes on people’s livelihoods, the state govt is imposing multiple financial burdens on ordinary citizens through repeated tax hikes and increased charges.Referring to the Chief Minister’s remarks against the BRS, Harish Rao said it was ironic that a government unable to procure sprouted paddy was claiming it would prevent the BRS from growing politically. He asserted that the BRS remains a strong political force and would continue to fight for the people of Telangana. He said public dissatisfaction with the Congress govt was growing rapidly across the state.ends/
