Silchar: Seven individuals, including three women, three men and a minor girl, were arrested during a late-night police operation at a house in the Second Link Road area of Silchar on Sunday, following complaints from residents about alleged prostitution activities being carried out on the premises.According to police sources, those arrested have been identified as Supriya Deb, Nanda Deb, Bishwarup Das, Sandhya Das, Moufali Chakraborty and Niyoti Das, who has been accused by residents of being the alleged mastermind behind the operation. A 15-year-old girl was also taken into custody during the raid.Residents claimed they repeatedly raised objections over the activities in the house in the past. Tension escalated on Sunday night when a large number of residents gathered near the premises following reports of suspicious movement.Police personnel subsequently reached the spot and launched a search operation. Videos from the scene showed a sizeable crowd gathered outside the residence as officers entered the compound and escorted several individuals into police vehicles.Some residents alleged that a few persons inside the house attempted to resist the police operation and threatened both police personnel and local residents with sharp weapons.All the arrested individuals were taken to Rangirkhari police station for questioning.
