On April 17, the girl was admitted to a private hospital after doctors said there was a fracture to the hip joint, besides facial injuries. The girl lives with her parents and four sisters at Malad (E). Her father is an autorickshaw driver. As school vacations were on, children often played on the stretch of the road where the barricades were put up as it wasn’t open to vehicular traffic. Often, local residents ventured to the same stretch for walks post dinner. Her family approached the police with a complaint.
