3 killed, 3 injured in Nalgonda head-on collision

Hyderabad: Three persons died and three others sustained injuries when two cars collided head-on in Nalgonda district on Thursday night.The deceased were Kakarla Thomasaiah, 51, a farmer, native of Kakarlapalem in Palnadu district of Andhra Pradesh; his son, Prakash Rao, 35, a private teacher from Shadnagar; and Sai Kumar, 21, an engineer from Warangal working for a contractor at an irrigation project near Nagarjuna Sagar.According to Peddavoora SI J Gopala Rao, the accident occurred at 10 pm on Thursday when the two cars collided at Ramannagudem.When the accident occurred, Thomasaiah and his son were travelling to a church at Nagarjuna Sagar in a cab from Shadnagar. The second car (XL6), in which Sai Kumar, his colleagues, V Ramakrishna, a site engineer, and K Sai, a helper, were travelling from Nagarjuna Sagar to Peddavoora, crashed into the cab at Rammagudem. “The preliminary probe indicates that Ramakrishna, while trying to overtake another vehicle, lost control over his car and crashed into the cab coming from the opposite direction,” the SI said.Alerted by the locals, Peddavoora police rushed to the spot and rushed the six injured to a nearby hospital at Nagarjuna Sagar. “Thomasaiah, his son Prakash and Sai Kumar were declared dead at the hospital. Among the three injured victims, Sai and cab driver Praveen were discharged on Friday after the treatment. Only Ramakrishna, who suffered a head injury, is undergoing treatment and he is also out of danger,” the SI said.Nalgonda SP Sharat Chandra Pawar visited the accident spot on Friday morning. The SP said that speeding, rash and negligent driving are the causes of such accidents. He appealed to motorists to be cautious while overtaking and follow road safety rules.Peddavoora police booked a case under Section 106(1) (causing death by negligence) and 125 (causing hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the BNS. The bodies of the victims were handed over to the family after postmortem.
