Health varsity cancels, reschedules MBBS surgery exam

Hyderabad: The Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) has cancelled the final year MBBS general surgery paper-I examination held on April 15, citing discrepancies in the syllabus. According to an official notification, certain questions in the exam were found to be outside the prescribed syllabus due to differences between the old and new regulations introduced under National Medical Commission (NMC) norms. The university stated that topics previously included in general surgery paper-I under the old regulations have now been shifted to paper-II under the revised curriculum, leading to confusion and inclusion of out-of-syllabus questions. It added that, following multiple representations from students and in the interest of ensuring fairness in the evaluation process, KNRUHS decided to cancel the examination. The paper has been rescheduled for April 27. In the notice, the university emphasised that the decision was taken keeping in mind the importance of final-year examinations and to ensure that students are not disadvantaged.
