Noida: A day after a 30-year-old woman’s body was found with ligature marks around her neck at her house in Dadri, police arrested her husband, who had allegedly strangled her.Police said a neighbour had heard the wails of the couple’s 5-year-old son and went to check on the family. He discovered Kavita’s body lying inside her room and immediately alerted the Dadri police station.When a police team reached the spot, her husband, Mohit (32), was missing. They found ligature marks around her neck and seized a scarf that was allegedly used to strangle her.During the investigation, police learned that Kavita and Mohit had been married for nearly a decade and had two children — a 5-year-old son and a 9-year-old daughter. The incident occurred during the early hours of Wednesday, after the couple returned from visiting a temple around 2am. Their daughter was living with Mohit’s parents.Officers said Mohit and Kavita had had a love marriage, after which her family disowned her. After the post-mortem examination was conducted on Thursday. Her body was handed over to her in-laws for the final rites.Dadri station house officer Neeraj Kumar Singh said Mohit was arrested from the locality on Thursday. He allegedly told police that an argument had broken out between him and his wife over cooking food shortly after they returned home. The dispute escalated, and he purportedly strangled her. Believing she had died, he fled the house.
