Gurgaon: Even as temperatures rose across Haryana on Thursday, the city remained significantly cooler than most parts of the state. Gurgaon recorded a maximum temperature of 35°C, nearly five degrees below normal, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD).IMD has forecast continued pre-monsoon activity across Haryana, including Gurgaon, over the next five days. Thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph, are likely at isolated places across the state from June 18 to June 22.No weather warning has been issued for June 23 and 24, when conditions are expected to remain largely dry. The forecast suggests that intermittent cloud cover and thunderstorm activity could keep daytime temperatures in check in Gurgaon over the coming days, providing residents some relief from the intense heat experienced earlier this month.Data released by Meteorological Centre, Chandigarh, showed that Haryana’s average maximum temperature increased by 1.6°C compared with the previous day and remained near normal. Rohtak was the hottest place in the state at 41.3°C, followed by Ambala at 40.6°C and Nuh at 40.4°C.Gurgaon, however, recorded one of the lowest daytime temperatures among major cities. The city’s observatory logged a maximum temperature of 35°C, 4.8°C below normal. Other stations in the district recorded slightly higher readings, with Gurgaon AWS reporting 38.1°C and Gurgaon KVK AWS 37.7°C.Night temperatures also rose across the state. Haryana’s average minimum temperature increased by 3.2°C over the previous day. In Gurgaon, the minimum temperature at the AWS station was 24.9°C, up by 3.9°C from Wednesday. NorthCap University AWS recorded a minimum of 26.7°C, while Gurgaon KVK AWS recorded 26.8°C.The lowest minimum temperature in Haryana was recorded at Narnaul at 23.5°C. No rainfall was recorded in Gurgaon during the 24-hour period ending Thursday evening. Elsewhere in Haryana, isolated showers were reported, including 8.8 mm in Hisar and 8.5 mm in Charkhi Dadri.
