Ludhiana: A police constable and his friend were thrashed severely by a group of men following a cricket match at Ladian village.Sooraj, a constable posted with the vigilance bureau, reported that his friend, Joban, and he had been packing their gear on June 14 when an argument had erupted between Joban and a local resident, Kaka.When Sooraj attempted to de-escalate the verbal altercation, Kaka allegedly summoned his relatives, who arrived armed with blunt weapons. The group launched a violent assault on both friends before fleeing the scene.Haibowal police have registered a first-information report (FIR) against Kaka, Bholu, Sumit, and their unidentified associates under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rioting, armed assault, and criminal intimidation.Officers confirmed that efforts to apprehend the suspects were in progress.
