In West Bengal, Sukhu says voters want change

Shimla: Campaigning for his party in the Chowrangee assembly constituency, Himachal Pradesh chief minister and Congress leader Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the voters in West Bengal, especially the youth, aspire for change and want a govt focussed on development, transparency and good governance. Addressing a public gathering at Kolkata on Saturday evening, Sukhu said after nearly 20 years, the Congress had fielded candidates in all 294 assembly seats of West Bengal. He expressed confidence that if the party forms the govt in West Bengal, the pace of development in the state will be accelerated.Appealing to the people to vote in support of Congress candidate Manas Sarkar, Sukhu said the Congress was the only party that respected all religions and castes equally.Strengthening the Congress party in West Bengal is essential for reinforcing democracy, he said. Sukhu urged the people to support the Congress for a brighter future of the state and to protect democratic values.Commenting on the current political situation, he said the working style of the Trinamool Congress had left common people feeling deceived. On one hand, there is the divisive politics of the BJP, and on the other, there is the unstable and corrupt functioning of the Trinamool Congress, which has deeply hurt public trust, Sukhu added. He emphasised that the Congress party had always fought for people’s rights, social justice and equal opportunities, and would continue its struggle with full commitment and determination in future.MSID:: 130368628 413 |
