State women panel hears 28 plaints, solves 2 on spot

Varanasi: Member of the UP State Women Commission, Geeta Vishwakarma, conducted a women’s public hearing at Circuit House auditorium here on Wednesday to address grievances related to women’s welfare and public services.A total of 28 applications were received during the hearing, of which two cases were resolved on the spot. The remaining complaints were referred to the departments concerned with directions for prompt and effective action.Officials said a majority of the applications were related to land disputes. Other complaints included allegations of harassment of women, fraud involving promises of jobs, illegal occupation of houses and issues related to medical treatment. All applications were forwarded to the relevant departments for necessary action and follow-up.During the meeting, Geeta Vishwakarma also reviewed information regarding various public welfare and beneficiary-oriented schemes being implemented by different departments. She directed officials to intensify awareness campaigns at grassroots level so that the benefits of schemes meant for women and girls reach the last beneficiary.Special emphasis was laid on expanding outreach efforts for programmes run by the UP Skill Development Mission and the UP National Rural Livelihood Mission. Officials of both departments were instructed to undertake extensive publicity and awareness drives to ensure greater participation and benefit for eligible women.
