AIADMK suffers another setback as former minister C Vijayabaskar quits as MLA

CHENNAI: In another setback for AIADMK, former health minister and Viralimalai MLA C Vijayabaskar resigned from the Tamil Nadu Assembly on Tuesday.Vijayabaskar is the fifth AIADMK MLA to resign since the 2021 Assembly election. With his resignation, the party’s strength in the House has come down to 42.He submitted his resignation to assembly speaker JCD Prabhakar at the secretariat. In a statement, the speaker said he had accepted Vijayabaskar’s resignation.Vijayabaskar represented the Viralimalai constituency in Pudukkottai district.Earlier in the day, Vijayabaskar criticised the AIADMK leadership, questioning how he could continue in a party that did not respect emotions.“Leadership is not authority or arrogance. It is a profound embrace of dedication,” Vijayabaskar said in a post on X.
