Bengaluru teacher riding pillion on Rapido bike loses balance, dies

Bengaluru: A 54-year-old school teacher riding pillion on a bike-taxi operated by Rapido died after she accidentally fell from the two-wheeler in JP Nagar late Sunday night. The victim is S Radha, teacher with Delhi Public School (South) and a resident of Arakere.Police said Radha visited her friends and relatives in Nagarabhavi and was riding back home around 8pm when the accident occurred. “She booked the ride with a lady captain. On reaching Nandini Junction on 24th Main, JP Nagar, Radha, who was sitting “side-saddle” (with both legs on the same side of the bike), lost balance and fell. In the melee, the lady captain also fell. Both were wearing half-helmets. Radha sustained deep injuries on her nose and forehead, resulting in internal bleeding. She was shifted to a nearby private hospital where she succumbed,” an investigating officer said.
