HYDERABAD: Four people, including a woman, have been arrested for the murder of a 26-year-old electrician who was allegedly killed by relatives opposed to his marriage, police said on Monday.According to police, the victim was attacked and killed on June 12 in an incident linked to a family dispute over his love marriage.Police said the victim had married the sister of the main accused in January 2025. The marriage was reportedly opposed by the accused, who frequently argued with the victim over the relationship.A complaint lodged by the victim’s father at Golconda Police Station stated that tensions within the family had continued even after the couple welcomed a baby boy in December 2025.According to the complaint, the main accused, accompanied by his mother and another sister, recently visited the family’s residence in Kumarwadi, where they allegedly quarrelled with the victim and forcibly took his wife back to their home.The situation turned violent on June 12 when the main accused, along with two cousins and a woman relative, allegedly entered the victim’s house armed with iron rods, a knife and wooden sticks.Police said the victim was first struck on the head with an iron rod before the other accused joined in the assault using a knife and wooden sticks. He sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.The victim’s father was also injured while trying to intervene and suffered bleeding injuries to his hand and cheek, police said.Based on his complaint, a case was registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act, 1959.Following the murder, a special police team launched a search operation and arrested all four accused on June 13 based on specific intelligence inputs, police added.
