Ghaziabad: The district administration and police on Sunday carried out a demolition drive in Tronica City to remove encroachments from govt land. As part of the drive, a mazar (mausoleum), which was illegally built on a greenbelt, was razed.An official said the mazar was built on land that belonged to Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA).Joint magistrate of Loni Deepak Singhanwal said a prior notice was served to the mazar authorities, informing them that the structure was an encroachment on govt land. “When they failed to take action and remove it, the building was razed by govt authorities,” he said.During the drive, around 450 police officers, including PAC, RAF, and about 300 other police personnel, were present to prevent any untoward incidents.Singhanwal said the drive was part of a larger crackdown on illegal constructions across the state being carried out on the directions of the chief minister and under the leadership of district magistrate Ravindra Kumar Mandar.Further, district commissioner of police (rural) Surendranath Tiwari said that those found responsible for constructing illegal structures will face strict action.
