Ahmedabad: Following the murder of Dharmesh Gamara and the subsequent communal rioting in Dhandhuka, the Ahmedabad Rural police have constituted a special investigation team (SIT) headed by deputy superintendent of police (DSP), Dholka division, Prakash Prajapati.Superintendent of police Om Prakash Jat said the four-member SIT would include officers from the Local Crime Branch (LCB) and a police sub-inspector. The team has been tasked with probing the entire sequence of events that led to Gamara’s murder and the violence that followed. Jat said the situation in Dhandhuka was peaceful and steadily returning to normal. Late on Saturday night, two separate complaints were registered. The first was for murder, criminal intimidation, and intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace. The FIR was lodged by Rahul Gamara, cousin of the deceased, naming Rizwan Maniyar and Sameer Amdani as accused. Police registered a second FIR on the complaint of PSI Harshrajsinh Zala against 125 Dhandhuka residents, invoking charges under BNS related to unlawful assembly, rioting—including rioting with deadly weapons—mischief causing losses exceeding Rs 1 lakh, and criminal trespass. Police said the violence led to serious injuries to several people from both communities during the rioting. The complaint stated that the violence later spread to several parts of Dhandhuka, including Ranpur Circle, Dholera Three Roads, Mithawala Complex, areas near RMS Hospital, the railway station, Bagodara Highway Road and Ranpur Road.The murder case was registered against Maniyar and Amdani in connection with the fatal stabbing of 29-year-old Dharmesh Gamara, allegedly following a dispute over motorcycle parking near a bank. Police maintained that the incident began as a minor accident that escalated into a heated argument. According to the complaint filed by Rahul Gamara, a resident of Dhandhuka, the incident originated from an earlier argument involving his cousin Dharmesh Gamara and the two accused, Maniyar and Amdani, both local residents. The complainant stated that around noon, Dharmesh argued with the accused over parking near Swastik Complex beside a bank. Later, Dharmesh called Rahul and asked him to accompany him to visit a relative living in the area. At around 1pm, while the two cousins were passing through an alley in Naseeb Society on separate motorcycles, the accused allegedly intercepted Dharmesh, abused him and issued death threats over the earlier dispute, the complaint said. Rahul alleged that during the confrontation, Sameer restrained Dharmesh while Rizwan stabbed him in the left thigh with a knife.
