Jaisalmer: Pakistani citizens who entered India from Pakistan on valid visas and passports and were residing in Jaisalmer district were directed by the Foreign Registration Officer Office (FRO) and the district administration to apply immediately if their visa period expired, and an advisory said those who wished to return to Pakistan should do so immediately.Applicants intending to return were required to submit applications related to ‘Pak Ravangi’ (departure to Pakistan) to the office as soon as possible. The FRO and the district administration said all applications received at the local office would be forwarded to the state govt for further approval and guidelines, after which further proceedings on permanent residence or return to Pakistan would be carried out as per rules, in line with state govt directions and established regulations.In directions issued by the FRO and the district administration, Pakistani minority citizens residing in Jaisalmer district who had not yet applied for Long Term Visa (LTV) at the FRO were warned to complete the process without delay. The administration stated that strict legal action would be taken against those who did not apply on time.According to the order, Pakistani minority citizens who wished to stay in India for a long period, including for permanent residence (LTV), were asked to submit their applications with necessary documents immediately at the Foreign Registration Officer Office, Jaisalmer. Those opting to return to Pakistan were similarly instructed to submit ‘Pak Ravangi’ applications without delay.The district administration warned that any citizen who did not submit an application within the prescribed time period would be considered an illegal immigrant. It said strict legal proceedings would be initiated under Sections 3 and 23 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, which provided for jail and heavy fines. Eligible people were advised to contact the concerned office to avoid legal action.
