Police say a probe is underway to establish how the fire started.“We are not ruling out any possibility at this stage. All claims, including those of intentional burning, are being thoroughly verified,” a senior police officer said.Teams from Vikasnagar police station have begun recording statements of eyewitnesses, victims and residents who were present when the fire broke out. Investigators are also scanning CCTV footage from nearby shops, showrooms and traffic intersections.“We are analysing footage from multiple points around the area. These visuals could be crucial in identifying the origin and spread pattern of the fire,” the officer added.Station house officer Alok Kumar Singh said, “We are also monitoring online activity closely to prevent rumours. Two social media handles have been booked for circulating false and misleading information”.Police said the investigation remains ongoing, with forensic inputs also expected to play a key role in establishing the cause of one of the worst fires reported in the area in recent years.
