Kolkata: Two men, Mohammad Tasir and Sai Ansari, have been arrested on Friday afternoon for their alleged involvement in the death of their friend, Mohammad Sahab (24), in Anandapur. Sahab, a resident of Martinpara, allegedly died after falling into an elevator shaft of an under-construction building on Wednesday night.Initial probe suggested an accident, however, the incident took a turn after the deceased’s family lodged a complaint at Anandapur PS. In their complaint, the family asserted that Tasir and Ansari had intentionally called Sahab out of his house that night. They alleged that the duo murdered Sahab and threw his body into the shaft to make the death appear accidental.Police said Sahab had accompanied a group of friends to the fifth floor of the unfinished structure in Gulshan Colony. During their time there, Sahab fell into the open elevator shaft and sustained fatal injuries. Upon receiving information, cops took him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead. “To resolve the conflicting versions of the incident, we are banking on forensic evidence. An autopsy was conducted on Thursday to ascertain whether the injuries were consistent with a fall or if there were signs of prior assault,” said an investigating officer.
