Bengaluru: A 31-year-old homemaker, her husband and their associate have been arrested on charges of kidnapping the homemaker’s younger sister and her husband over a monetary fight and locking them inside a house.Based on the complaint filed by victim Pruthvi, a resident of Dhruvadhama residential layout in Electronics City, Hebbagodi police arrested her elder sister, Prafulla S, her husband Saleem Sheik and their associate identified as Beeresh on charges of kidnapping, assault and illegal detention.According to Pruthvi, she took a handloan of Rs 9.5 lakh sometime back, on interest. “I was paying a monthly instalment of Rs 75,000. Till June last year, I repaid a total of Rs 2.7 lakh. Since I had some difficulties, I requested my brother-in-law (Saleem Sheik) to give some time. However, my sister and Sheik shouted at us for not paying the remaining due. Accordingly, I paid Rs 2.5 lakh more in a few more monthly instalments. I requested Sheik to give us time till this June end to repay the remaining amount,” Pruthvi said.According to Pruthvi, her sister visited her house in the wee hours of April 15. “Prafulla, Sheik and Beeresh hit me and my husband Abhijeet and issued dire threats for non-payment. They expressed dismay over my police complaint I made in June last year, saying Prafulla and Sheik were harassing me. They also threatened, stating that they have men who can kill for just Rs 500,” Pruthvi said.Bundling Pruthvi and Abhijeet into their car, the accused reached Sheik’s Nagarabhavi house. Here, Pruthvi and Abhijeet were locked up and threatened again.Finally, the couple were let off with a warning, stating they should not go to police or tell anyone about the incident. “Pruthvi filed a zero FIR (registering complaint anywhere) with Chandra Layout police and it was transferred to us. Immediately, we arrested the three accused persons,” an officer said.
