Two girls poisoned by mother out of danger

Surat: Two girls who were allegedly made to drink poison by their mother in the Singanpor area are now out of danger, while police have registered an attempted murder case against the deceased woman as required by law.The accused in the case, Mittal Kharak (35), died after allegedly drinking the same poisoned drink on April 15. Singanpor police registered an offence on Friday based on a complaint filed by her husband, Jaysukh (43).According to the complaint, Jaysukh returned home for lunch around noon on Wednesday before returning to work. Around 2pm, Mittal called him and allegedly told him that she had drank poison and had also made their two daughters drink it.Jaysukh rushed home and rushed all three to a hospital. One daughter told him their mother had given them water in which some black tablets had been dissolved. She later drank the same mixture herself, police said.While the two girls, 6 and 4, recovered during treatment and are now said to be stable and out of danger, Mittal succumbed.The family had been living in a rented house at Suman Pratik Awas in the Singanpor area for about a year. Jaysukh, originally from Mahuva in Bhavnagar district, is a diamond artisan and makes around Rs 20,000 a month. Investigators are trying to determine what led to the incident. Police suspect a animosity between the couple or some recent personal development, though family members did not mention any long-standing conflict.
