Ghaziabad: Police arrested five persons in connection with the shooting and abduction of a 44-year-old man, who was allegedly attacked by a group that fired multiple rounds at him before forcing him into a car and fleeing. While the main accused and the victim remain untraced, police said those arrested are relatives of the prime suspects and had allegedly helped them carry out the crime. It is unclear whether the victim is still alive or was killed.Omkar, who runs a dairy firm in Loni, was shot multiple times by a group of people who later fled with him in a Swift car early on Saturday morning. Cops seized 5-6 cartridges from the spot. The DCP (rural) Surendra Nath Tiwari suspended the Loni SHO in relation to the case.An FIR was registered against Saurabh alias Bhola, his brother Gaurav and his associates – Gopal, Gaurav and Mohit under BNS sections (attempt to murder), 140(3) (kidnapping or abducting in order to murder or for ransom etc) and 3(5) (common intention) at Loni police station. A reward of Rs 25,000 each was announced for the prime accused’s arrest.According to the DCP, on Monday night, police arrested Saurabh’s father Vijendra (52), his uncle Azad (48) and Gopal’s uncle Azad Singh (49) in the case. Police said they were all involved in the conspiracy and added BNS Section 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) to the FIR.On Tuesday, Mohit’s mother Manju and his aunt Santresh were arrested for allegedly sheltering the accused.“More than 10 teams have been working on the case and more than 500 CCTV cameras have been checked, but we are still trying to nab them,” the DCP said.On May 20, Omkar got into a fight with the prime accused in a road rage incident. The village panchayat subsequently tried to resolve the matter, but was unable to do so.Omkar’s brother Surendra told cops that Omkar had gone out to fetch dry fodder for buffaloes around 6.50am on Saturday when he was attacked near the curve of Khadkhadi Railway Underpass by Gaurav, Saurabh alias Bhola, Gopal, Gaurav and Mohit.“All of them fired multiple gunshots at him and then kidnapped him. The police also inspected the scene of the incident, during which empty bullet casings and blood were taken into possession,” Surendra said.
