Edited 165 wordsCalangute: A Maharashtra-registered car crashed into a cafe in Tito’s Lane 2 at Baga on Monday morning, damaging the front glass wall, door, and a Jesus statue.The incident reportedly happened at around 8am after the driver lost control of the vehicle. Eyewitnesses said the driver was drunk and sustained injuries, and police took him to the Candolim primary health centre.Cafe owner Lawrence Fernandes said the same car has been driven rashly in the area for the last few days. “The car had a loud exhaust and tinted glasses. They have been driving it even at 3am. When the crash occurred, the driver was drunk and suffered injuries because the airbag exploded. There were two of them in the car,” Fernandes said.“The guard who normally stands at the entrance was not present, so he was saved,” he said.Calangute police said they are investigating the matter. Several other incidents involving traffic offences by tourists were reported in Calangute at the end of the tourist season.
