2,500 personnel deployed in Amritsar ahead of Op Bluestar anniversary | Chandigarh News



Amritsar: Amritsar commissionerate police on Monday conducted a flag march across the city and intensified security arrangements ahead of June 6, the anniversary of Operation Bluestar.The march, led by senior police officers, covered all three police zones of the city and passed through sensitive areas, major markets, bus stands, railway stations and other public places.Deputy commissioner of police (city) Jagjit Singh Walia, along with officers and personnel from various wings of the police, participated in the exercise aimed at reinforcing public confidence and maintaining peace and communal harmony.Police teams also interacted with shopkeepers, traders and residents, urging them to cooperate in maintaining law and order.Commissioner of police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said the force was fully prepared to ensure the safety and security of citizens. He cautioned people against believing or circulating rumours and unverified information, particularly on social media platforms.“Any information should be verified only through official sources. Police are closely monitoring the situation and will not tolerate any unlawful activity,” he said.Officials said around 2,500 police personnel would be deployed in the city on June 6. Five companies of central forces, including the BSF, ITBP and RAF, have also been requisitioned to strengthen security arrangements.
