Panaji: The crime branch of the Goa police on Friday conducted two raids in connection with alleged cricket betting, arrested 10 persons and also seized material totally worth Rs 28 lakh, including 95 mobile phones, eight laptops, 77 SIM cards, and 18 debit cards.Crime branch SP Rahul Gupta said a villa at Ribandar was raided following inputs that IPL cricket betting was under way there.“We have arrested Digvijay Devangan, 29, Kamal Singh, 22, and Bhupendra Singh, 20, all residents of Chhattisgarh; Manish Surhota, 21, and Sameer Shyamlal, 20, of Haryana; Gautam Singh Paritur, 28, and Karan Chauhan, 20, of Uttar Pradesh; and Dhruv Ciavwani, 20, of Madhya Pradesh,” Gupta said.A total of 48 mobile phones, four laptops, 28 SIM cards of different service providers, 18 debit cards of different banks, cheque books and passbooks of different banks, a Wi-Fi receiver, and cash of Rs 2 lakh was seized during the raid. The value of the attached property is Rs 8 lakh, Gupta said.During the first raid, more intelligence was received that similar activities were going on at a villa at Kadamba Plateau, Old Goa, he said. Accordingly, one more crime branch team was formed, which raided the villa and arrested Lucky Kashyap, 27, and Karan Aryan, 29, both residents of Madhya Pradesh. In all, 47 mobile phones, four laptops, one tab, 49 SIM cards, one TV and seven passbooks were seized during the raid.“The total value of the attached property is Rs 20 lakh,” Gupta said.
