Canacona: Sixty-five years after Goa’s liberation, the Nadkem hamlet in the Cotigao panchayat area will not be isolated from the rest of the state. Comprising around 20 houses, the village is all set to get a 3 km motorable road and a culvert bridge across the rivulet. The foundation stone for their construction was laid recently. The road, passing through the Cotigao wildlife sanctuary, received administrative clearances from the State Wildlife Board of Goa and the Central Wildlife Board after a process spanning decades, said Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar. The road will make it easier for students to go to school during the monsoon season.A student told TOI they had to stay at their relatives’ place to go to school during the monsoons as it was more accessible from there than their own home.Albert Fernandes times photosCanacona
