‘Khalnayak Returns’ is finally moving forward. Sanjay Dutt has reportedly asked Rajkumar Santoshi to direct the sequel, and Dutt himself will also produce the film. The movie is a follow-up to his superhit ‘Khal Nayak’, which was released in 1993 and is still loved by fans worldwide. The story behind how this sequel came about is quite heartwarming. Director Subhash Ghai, who made the original film, shared that Dutt wrote him a letter from jail expressing how badly he wanted to make this sequel. The letter was so full of feeling and passion that Ghai was moved by it and decided that ‘Khal Nayak 2’ should definitely be made.
Rajkumar Santoshi confirms talks with Sanjay Dutt are underway
As reported by Variety India, Santoshi himself has now broken his silence on the matter, confirming that conversations between the two are already in motion. “We are talking and have been wanting to work together. It could be ‘Khal Nayak 2’ or any other film. Even if it is Khal Nayak 2, it is fine,” the director said, making it clear that a collaboration is very much on the cards.
Subhash Ghai to stay on as creative guide for ‘Khal Nayak 2’
Ghai said that the sequel would need a good and strong director to lead the film, but he also made it clear that he would stay involved and help guide the project creatively. Dutt, on the other hand, spoke very highly of Ghai, calling him his mentor and saying that making this film without him would not be possible at all.
‘Khal Nayak’: Revisiting the iconic 1993 blockbuster
