Gurgaon: The Country Club of Malibu Towne has received its occupation certificate (OC) after two years of waiting, finally paving the way for its reopening following its closure in 2024. The township’s license had expired in 2020 and was renewed six years later in Jan 2026, enabling the builder to apply for the club’s OC.Authorities confirmed that all pending paperwork, payments, and corrective measures that caused the club to be sealed are now complete. Malibu Towne, home to nearly 10,000 residents, can finally expect key amenities, including its swimming pool, to reopen.The 204-acre township in Sector 50, developed in the mid-1990s, depended on the club for facilities such as a swimming pool, garden areas, spaces for community events and social gatherings.The OC application was submitted by the builder, Malibu Estate Pvt Ltd (MEPL), towards the end of Jan 2026. The township licence had expired earlier in 2020, and authorities had advised the builder to first secure renewal of the township licence before applying for the club’s OC.Subsequently, the licence was approved by DTCP, Chandigarh, on Jan 9, 2026, after which the builder formally submitted the OC application to DTP, Gurgaon.“This positive outcome is the result of sustained follow-ups and multiple meetings over the past several months involving MEPL and department of town and country planning and help of Ward Councillor Kuldeep Yadav,” said Vijay Shiv Nath, Chairman of Malibu Towne RWA’s Federation.The township’s compliance issues date back to 2020, when DTCP rejected its completion certificate for failing to develop community sites within the stipulated deadline of Nov 2020. Of the 16 approved community sites, only 11 were constructed as per norms.Malibu Towne has also faced allegations of violations in the past, such as illegal construction in green belts, development without environmental clearance, and deviations from approved plans. In 2020, a case was filed against the developers and directors after a complaint by the DTP. A case was registered after the police found the developer’s responses to notices unsatisfactory.
