BENGALURU: An FIR has been registered after a 36-year-old pregnant woman accused a male employee at a Bengaluru’ private hospital on Sarjapur Road of allegedly trying to secretly photograph or film her inside a restroom, officials said on Monday.According to news agency PTI, the incident reportedly took place on May 21. In her complaint, the woman stated that she became suspicious after noticing the staff member allegedly behaving unusually while she was inside the washroom. According to police, the woman suspected that the accused may have attempted to capture her photos or videos using his mobile phone while she was in the restroom. When she confronted him about the matter, he allegedly fled from the spot. In her complaint, the woman said the incident left her distressed and traumatised, especially as she is pregnant. “This complaint is submitted requesting appropriate legal action against the accused hospital management,” she said. Following the complaint, police registered a case against both the accused staff member and the hospital administration under Sections 77 (voyeurism), 79 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 62 (attempt to commit offences) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant sections of the IT Act. During the preliminary investigation, no alleged photos or videos were found on the accused’s mobile phone. “We have issued notices to the accused and the hospital administration in this regard. His mobile phone has been seized and sent for forensic examination for further investigation,” police said.
