Pak car breaches border, occupants cleared & repatriated by BSF

Amritsar: Two Pakistani nationals accidentally drove across the Indian border near Amritsar, were detained by the Border Security Force (BSF), and repatriated after security agencies cleared them of any suspicious intent.Mohammad Saleem, 60, and Ameer Nawaz, 40, both from Lahore, were intercepted by BSF personnel after their car crossed into India from Pakistan’s Kasur sector on Thursday, BSF officials said. Sources said the two supplied books and literature to schools and shops in the Kasur area and had ventured close to the international border while distributing material in border villages. They allegedly failed to spot the boundary pillar and rolled into Indian territory, advancing towards the border fence. Their entry triggered suspicion, as Pakistani nationals crossing into India by private vehicle is virtually unheard of. Those breaching the border are mainly farmers, people with mental disabilities, or infiltrators. BSF’s Kisan Guards flagged down the vehicle, detained the two men, and handed them over for questioning. Agencies seized the car and questioned the two. BSF simultaneously alerted Pakistani Rangers at the zero line. After interrogation and verification yielded nothing incriminating, both men were repatriated.
